Coach Laura Lipetsky has been named one of the guest coaches for the 2027 Miller-Brenner Winter Camp, taking place January 30–31, 2027, in Oklahoma City. For two days, coaches who have worked with Team USA, Olympic teams and World-level champions will share the ice with skaters of all levels.

About the Camp

The camp is hosted by the Oklahoma City Figure Skating Club at Arctic Edge Ice Arena. The program is led by Diane Miller and Jackie Brenner, who, together with their guest coaches, will guide skaters through new and exciting sessions designed to strengthen both their skills and their love for skating.

Athletes are grouped by ability, so the camp is a good fit for skaters at many different stages of their development. Every participant receives an event T-shirt.

The Coaching Team

The guest coaching staff is what sets this camp apart.

Tammy Gambill is a World and Olympic coach with more than 40 years of coaching experience who has developed numerous national and international champions.

Dr. Caroline Silby, Ph.D., CMPC is Head of Sport Psychology and Mental Health Services for U.S. Figure Skating. She has served as a mental performance provider for the 2018, 2022 and 2026 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Teams and for multiple World Championships teams. She was named the 2023 USOPC Service Provider of the Year, was inducted into the Professional Skaters Association Hall of Fame in 2025, and is the author of Games Girls Play: Understanding and Guiding Young Female Athletes.

Jeff DiGregorio has been a Team USA coach since 2002. He served as a World Team coach in 2008, 2011 and 2013, and as a World Junior Team coach in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2018. He is a three-time PSA/USFS Developmental Coach of the Year and a U.S. Figure Skating Accredited Master Coach.

Doug Haw is a current international coach and a world-acclaimed seminar facilitator and coach educator. He holds the highest coaching ratings in North America: Master with U.S. Figure Skating and Canadian Level 5 Olympic.

Heidi DeLio Thibert is a U.S. Figure Skating and PSA Master Rated coach and Triple Gold Medalist, recognized nationally as a leader in coach education and development.

Laura Lipetsky is the 2019 Coach of the Year and the 2020 Developmental Coach of the Year.

Laura’s Experience: From First Steps to the Olympic Level

The camp announcement highlights what Laura is best known for in the skating world: a proven record of developing skaters from beginner all the way to the World and Olympic levels.

The clearest example is Alysa Liu. Laura coached Alysa from 2010 to 2020, ten years that began with her very first lessons on the ice. During that time, Alysa grew from a beginning skater into a U.S. champion, becoming the youngest women’s national champion in the country’s history.

The foundation built during those years stayed with her throughout her career. In 2025, Alysa Liu became World champion, and in February 2026 she won Olympic gold in Milan, the first Olympic title for an American woman in singles skating since 2002.

Laura’s own work has been recognized as well. She was named Coach of the Year in 2019 and Developmental Coach of the Year in 2020. The second award is especially meaningful, because it honors coaches who build an athlete’s path from the earliest stages.

Why Camps Like This Matter

A two-day camp with a strong coaching staff offers something that is hard to get in everyday training. Skaters work with several specialists in a row, and each one looks at their skating from a different angle: jump technique, edges and skating skills, artistry, and mental preparation. A fresh set of eyes can spot things that have become easy to overlook, and skaters leave with new drills and approaches they can bring back to their regular practice.

One of the special features of this camp is the participation of an Olympic-level sport psychologist. Managing nerves and performing under pressure matter just as much as technique, and not every skater has access to that kind of expertise.
