I recently had the opportunity to take part in the figure skating camp at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, joining fellow coaches, athletes, and families for time dedicated to learning, training, and connecting within our figure skating community.

I had an incredible time in such a beautiful location, surrounded by passionate skaters, coaches, and families. This camp was exceptionally well organized, filled with valuable learning opportunities, positive energy, and countless memorable moments.

My Time at Shattuck-St. Mary’s

I traveled to Shattuck-St. Mary’s to take part in the camp as a coach, alongside fellow figure skating coach Surya Bonaly and the SSM Figure Skating program. The setting itself was beautiful, and the camp brought together a community of passionate skaters, coaches, and families who all shared a common dedication to this sport.

What stood out to me most was how exceptionally well organized the camp was. From the learning opportunities to the overall atmosphere, everything was put together with real care. I want to thank everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to create such a special experience — it doesn’t go unnoticed.

It was a privilege to share my knowledge, connect with so many dedicated athletes, and be part of an environment that inspires excellence both on and off the ice.

Why Sharing Knowledge Matters

One of the things I value most about camps like this one is the chance to share what I know while also learning from others. Spending time with so many dedicated athletes, coaches, and families reminded me how much growth happens when we step outside our usual routines and connect with the wider skating community.

For me, it’s never just about teaching — it’s about being part of an environment that pushes everyone, myself included, to keep improving. Conversations with other coaches, watching how different programs work, and getting to know new skaters all add something to how I approach my own coaching back home.

I think that kind of exchange — between coaches, between athletes, between programs — is part of what keeps this sport moving forward, and I’m grateful I got to be part of it this time around.

Thank You

To everyone at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, and to everyone I met along the way — thank you. Thank you for the invitation, for the warm welcome, and for the work that went into making this camp what it was.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of your continued growth and success. Thank you for the wonderful memories!
